정자 또는 정자 세포는 동물의 수컷 생식세포이다. 정액에 들어 있으며, 운동할 수 있는 능력이 있고 난자와 만나 수정을 시작하도록 하는 능력이 있다. 이 둘의 결합을 수정체라고 한다. 수정체는 자라서 사람과 같은 개체가 될 수 있다. 정자는 유전 정보의 반을 담고 있다. 1679년 처음 발견한 사람은 안토니 반 레벤후크이다.
